“Carla has, over several years and many small projects (as my
budget allowed) brought order, beauty, accessibility and a playful sense of harmony to my home. (I am a farmer running a 48 acre ranch on my own.) Carla is superresponsive, adaptable and joyfully hardworking. She is a clear, direct and intuitive
communicator who underpromises and overdelivers every time.”
- Erin Tormey
Carla Lazzarini is the owner and designer at Carla Lazzarini
Design. As a perennial student of landscape design, horticulture
and sustainable practices, she stays fresh in her industry. Drawing
on more than 20 years of experience and expertise in garden
design, plant knowledge, project management and specialized
landscape maintenance, she enjoys also including each client’s
needs, wants and personal aesthetic into her projects.
Her formal training includes an A.S. in Architectural Drafting and
Design from SFCC, a myriad of horticulture courses and seminars
over many years, a certificate in sustainable design from the Bay-
Friendly Landscaping and Gardening Coalition, and a LEED Green
Associate credential. Carla also enjoyed 10 years as a garden
columnist for the Half Moon Bay Review’s “Down to Earth” garden
section. Spending time volunteering is also a priority for Carla and
she has a long list of organizations that she’s worked with,
including the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, Slow Food
Nation, Senior Coastsiders and The HEAL Project.
Carla’s design approach is collaborative and site sensitive,
resulting in creative, beautiful spaces that her clients enjoy
spending time in. Her projects range from urban courtyard gardens
to several-acre estates, from oceanfront properties to inland gardens.
Carla creates and manages gardens for clients all over the San
Francisco Bay Area.
